Should your dog arrive with a heavily matted or neglected coat and my opinion is that it will be kinder to shave the coat back completely, this will be done in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Section 5 of this act ensures animals are to be protected from pain, injury and suffering, de-matting a coat for more than 15 minutes as this can be painful and distressing to the dog.
This will incur an extra charge due to time and extra wear on equipment.
You will be asked to sign a de-matting disclaimer, I will never shave your dog’s coat off without first discussing it with you.
Please note if you refuse to allow the coat to be shaved and the dog is in a poor state due to the coat then a report will be made to the relevant governing bodies for animal welfare
Please be aware that when a coat is shaved off it can lead to skin irritation and other conditions. On some breeds the coat may not grow back in the same manner. Smooth Groom will not be liable for any effects which may arise from this.
